Richardson vs. Lake Highlands Recap

Lake Highlands vs. Richardson

Last night’s game was standing room only to see the likes of Tre Johnson, Cason Wallace and Rylan Griffen.

Those three didn’t disappoint at all and a few others stepped up to the plate in a big time game.

2024 Lake Highlands 6’6 G Tre Johnson

Tre got off to a slow start in the first quarter. What he did from the second quarter through the end of the game was one of the best performances I’ve seen this year. The top 5 national prospect backed up his ranking with a LOUD 37 points in a tough loss.

With his team down 17 points headed into the fourth quarter Tre went on a scoring barrage from all three levels like a seasoned pro. He is a devastating scorer that knows exactly how to get to his spots. He knocked down three’s, was excellent in the mid-range and showed off ELITE athleticism playing way above the rim.

2022 Richardson HS 6’6 G Rylan Griffen

Griffen was excellent scoring and rebounding. He made big time plays when Lake Highlands made a run in the fourth quarter. The Alabama signee ended the night with 30 points and several rebounds. He did an excellent job attacking the rim and finishing. Always knows as an ELITE shooter he made shots but I was really impressed with how he attacked and finished at the basket.

2022 Richardson HS 6’4 G Cason Wallace

Wallace continues to lead the charge for one of the top teams in the country. He showed off the entire package on both sides of the ball. He did an excellent job as a defender, rebounder and facilitator. He scored from all three levels and showed flashes of greatness with his future head coach John Calipari and assistant coach Jai Lucas in attendance. Wallace has a college ready frame and the game to match. He is a player that just makes the right play every play. The best point guard in the country in the 2022 class.

2023 Richardson HS 6’7 F Tim Jordan Jr.

Jordan was outstanding in this one. He finished around the rim, made three’s and showed the ability to drive bigger defenders off the bounce. He has great hands in traffic and knows how to play.

2023 Lake Highlands 6’9 C Samson Aletan

Big Sam did an excellent job rebounding and being an interior presence. He showed good timing on blocked shots and showed nice touch on the jump hook over his left shoulder. He still has a ways to go but he’s made tremendous strides as a player over the last two years.
