ELITE Point Guard Play at The Next Wave in the 2020-2021 Classes

ELITE point guard play was on display at The Next Wave for the classes of 2020-2021 . Here are a few of the standout lead guards from the event.

2020 Lancaster HS 6'3 PG Mike Miles

Mike was phenomenal during his three games and the all-star game. He played aggressive while scoring and making plays for his teammates. He also showed off his athleticism driving down the lane a few times and throwing down some big time dunks. Mike is one of the top available point guards in the country. His combination of size, IQ and ability to knock down jump shots makes him an impact player early at the next level. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Houston Episcopal 6'4 PG Jahari Long (Seton Hall Commit)

Jahari dazzled the crowd the entire camp with his slick ball handling, playmaking and vision. He was good from the beginning of the first game until the end of the last game. His ability to play with pace, see the play before it develops and deliver the ball on time is second to none. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Grand Prairie HS 6'3 G Jaylin Posey

Posey has long been considered one of the most talented guards in Texas and he showed why in this one. He opened up the camp with a 37 point performance scoring from all three levels and connecting on 5 triples in only 7 attempts. His athleticism was on full display on both sides of the ball. Posey is a combo guard who excels with the ball in  his hands. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020  Yates HS 6'4 G Rubin Jones

Rubin Jones has a special blend of skills. He showed them all. He is athletic, can make shots out to the three point line, guards multiple positions and is a great passer. He played well at The Next Wave and showed why so many schools have prioritized him. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Grambling HS 6'1 PG Chanse Robinson

One word for Chanse. ELECTRIC! He was one of the toughest guards in the camp. His toughness, change of pace and athleticism make him tough to deal with on both sides of the ball. He was impossible to keep out of the lane and made opposing guards uncomfortable when he was on defense. Kid has some special tools. Top 30 Game Selection.

2021 Lancaster HS 6'0 PG Wade Taylor IV

Wade is simply a BAD DUDE! He is a blur in transition, finishes everything around the rim with both hands and is a big time shot maker with deep range. He did a great job of getting into the paint and dropping off passes to bigs for easy finishes. Top 30 Game Selection.

2021 Bishop Lynch HS 6'0 PG Imo Essien

Imo was tremendous at The Next Wave. He is the modern playmaking point guard that can score if he needs to. His IQ and feel for the game are special. He just understands how to play the game. He showed well playing against some stiff competition. Definitely one mid major's should be tracking. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Houston Episcopal 6'1 PG D'Avian Houston

DA Houston has always been known as a big time on-ball defender and rightfully so. He should get just as much acclaim for his offensive ability as well. He doesn't turn the ball over, makes shots, makes the right reads and as he showed in this camp he has the ability to drive down the lane and finish above the rim. Some school is going to get a three year starting PG in this kid. Top 30 Game Selection.

2023 Grambling HS 6'0 G Fred Payne

Fred was the youngest player in the camp and you wouldn't have known it. He played like a composed veteran. He is a big time shooter that has a nice handle. Strong body for an incoming freshman as well. He projects to be one of the top guards in the region in his class. Top 60 Game Selection.

2020 iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy 6'2 PG Julian Larry

Julian was solid at the camp. He made plays for others, was always in attack mode and finished above the rim. He has great size for the position and just recently gave up playing football to focus full time on basketball.  Julian is a winner, he makes whatever plays his team needs in order to win! Top 30 Game Selection.

2021 China Springs 5'9 PG Eli Stephens

Eli is productive every time I view him. He is quick and fearless. He possesses a tight handle, good vision and he can score. He may be undersized in people's minds but he is one of the top PG prospects in the state due to his consistent production. Top 60 Game Selection.

2020 Colleyville Heritage 6'2 PG Baylor Hebb

Baylor has seen his recruitment take a huge spike coming off of a fantastic summer. He left no doubt as to why he's widely considered one of the top guards in the state of Texas. His ability to make the right decisions, play with pace, finish around the rim and make jump shots make him a hot commodity with college coaches across the country. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Hebron 6'2 G Logan McLaughlin

Logan literally played on one ankle at the camp and nobody had any clue based on his play. Logan showed his explosion off of the bounce and finishing above the rim. He had the three ball working as well making several NBA range three-pointers during the event. As he continues to get healthy look for Logan to pick up several new offers in the fall. Top 30 Game Selection.
