Top 2020-2021 Guards at The Next Wave

In this article we preview the top guards/ wings from the C/O 2020-2021 The Next Wave Camp.

2020  Keller Central 6'0 G Latrell Jossell

Latrell was one of the top players in the camp regardless of position. The 6'0 combo guard did whatever he wanted to during the event. He knocked down jumpers from all over the floor and finished above the rim over bigger defenders multiple times. Jossell is one of the most underrated players in the state of Texas and a surefire D1 prospect. It is puzzling that his recruitment stands where it does. 1200 SAT score, high gpa and REAL game make this kid a really good prospect. I expect once coaches come out to see him in the following months the offers will start pouring in for Latrell. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Bossier Parish (LA) 5'9 G Cody Deen

Cody Deen is a BAD man. His ability to score the ball coupled with his toughness make him a nightmare offensively when he's rolling. He had it rolling at the camp scoring from everywhere and also making plays for his teammates. Cody is a legit D1 prospect. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Bishop Lynch 6'5 G Jake Milkereit

Jake did what he always does which is make shots. He showed off his silky smooth jumper and athleticism throughout the camp. He also showed much improvement defensively. He really made a consistent effort to shut the player he was guarding down and did a good job of it. He showed the ability to handle the ball and create some opportunities for  himself off the bounce. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Waxahachie 6'3 G CJ Noland

I have two words for CJ Noland. Consistent Production. CJ is productive every time he touches the floor and he showed that at the camp. He scores from all three levels, plays above the rim in traffic and is a good defender who anticipates well. He is a jack of all trades and a player who impacts winning. CJ should be one of the most sought after prospects in the 2021 class. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Waxahachie 6'4 G Jalen Lake

Jalen can make a case for being the best shooter in the 2021 class. The long wing possesses a beautiful stroke from behind the arch and can get hot quickly. He shot the ball well but also showed the ability to handle it and create shots for himself. Jalen looks as if he's still growing into his body and his game. HUGE upside as a prospect. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 St. Mark's 6'6 Wing Andrew Laczkowski

Andrew just makes plays. He is a dead eye shooter from three, rebounds well and always makes the right play. The high academic wing played very well in camp and just sticks to doing the things he does well. Andrew is an underrated athlete who is stronger than he looks. Will be a big time addition for the school he chooses. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Mesquite Horn 6'3 G Devon Hancock

Devon served notice early he was one of the top guards in the event. He came out the gate knocking down shots and finishing above the rim with authority. Hancock is a terrific shooter off of the dribble and possesses plus athleticism. He is one of the premiere shooters in the state of Texas in the 2020 class. Top 30 Game Selection.

2021 St. Mark's 6'7 G Harrison Ingram

Harrison made it really tough for me not to include him with the point guards recap. Harrison is a point-forward type that does EVERYTHING well. His ability to rebound and shoot the three ball at 6'7 makes him a big time wing prospect. His ability to see the floor and deliver passes at 6'7 makes him a big time point guard prospect. Harrison backed up his status as a Top 15 National Prospect. He dominated in his games and showed off his athleticism finishing above the rim several times. Ingram is one of the most versatile prospects in the country and will have a real chance to be a McDonald's All-American. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Burleson Centennial 6'3 G Tayton Conerway

Tayton played outstanding at the camp. He is one of the top 2 way guards I observed. He really defends and can get to the basket and finish over and through defenders. Tayton plays with a bravado that serves him well on the floor. He doesn't back down from anybody. Top 60 Game Selection.

2020 Burleson Centennial 5'9 G Keryn Collins

Keryn Collins was on go from his first game until the final buzzer of the all-star game. Collins is a dynamic playmaker who can really score. Although small in stature his game is BIG and built for the big stage. He is a big time competitor who didn't back down and flat out held his own against some of the top players in the state of Texas. I hadn't seen much of him before the camp and he was a terrific find for myself and other media outlets in attendance. This kid is a legit collegiate prospect who coaches should be in to see in the fall. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Desoto 6'1 G Mekai Pope

Mekai shot the ball really well in camp and showed the ability to get other guys involved. Top 60 Game Selection.

2020 Cedar Hill 6'3 G Camren Johnson

2020 John Paul 6'5 Wing Nate Dominick

Nate was a steady hand at the camp. He made shots, rebounded and pushed the break. Nate is the ultimate glue guy. Top 60 Game Selection.

2021 James Bowie 6'3 G LD Butler

LD came in and got to work early at the camp. He's a versatile wing that does a little bit of everything. I like his upside as a prospect. Excellent defender.

2021 Duncanville HS 6'4 Wing Damon Nicholas Jr.

Every time I see Damon I like his game more and more. He is a big time glue guy who does whatever it takes to help his team win games. he guards the best players on the opposing team, makes jumpers, handles the ball and has now begun to show signs of improved athleticism. Kid is a winner. Top 30 Game Selection.

2021 Frisco Wakeland 6'4 G Cooper Sisco

Cooper is a big time shot maker that can really pass the ball. He's grown a few inches over the last year and his ability to make shots make him a legit prospect.

2020 Lewisville 6'4 G KJ Pruitt

KJ really showed off an improved stroke from three at the camp. He knocked down several triples while continuing to be solid on the ball as a playmaker. KJ is a big time athlete that is always looking to make plays for others. If he continues to knock down jumpers like he did at the camp he will see his recruitment take a real spike headed into the early signing period. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Mansfield Timberview 6'4 Wing Joey Madimba

Joey is one bad hombre. He attacked the rim with toughness and athleticism relentlessly at the camp. He made jumpers out to the three point line with regularity as well. He is a typical MM wing prospect that can guard multiple positions, get out in transition,  finish above the rim and make open jump shots. Top 30 Game Selection.

2021 Allen HS 6'1 G Mason Gibson

Mason plays with an edge and toughness not always found in events like these. He guarded, made shots and attacked the rim consistently. He plays to win. Top 60 Game Selection.

2020 iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy 6'7 Wing Quevian Adger

Quevian has a special blend of skills for a 6'7 prospect. He can score from all three levels, he's a plus athlete and he guards as well as he scores. He continues to get better and showed that at the camp. There's nothing Adger can't do on a basketball court at the HS level. He is one of the better wing prospects in the country. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Byron Nelson 6'4 Wing Austin Garner

Austin's versatility as a prospect was on full display at the camp. He can really shoot the basketball and plays with a high IQ. He rebounded well and made the right plays. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Legacy School of Sports Sciences 6'5 G Roland McDougal III

Roland McDougal showed up at The Next Wave and served notice he was one of the best wings in attendance. The 6'5 athlete with wiggle played above the rim the entire camp and showed off a nice handle. He was a nice find in camp and I expect his recruitment to pick up during the HS season. I like his upside and current production. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Arlington Lamar 6'5 Wing Shannon Robinson Jr.

Shannon was a high flying act at The Next Wave. He is a human pogo stick with his quick vertical leaping ability. He is a terror in transition as he runs the floor well and finishes way above the rim. Has potential to be an excellent perimeter defender as well. Top 60 Game Selection.

2020 Allen HS 6'2 G Thailand Elder

Thailand is as tough as they come and an elite athlete. He showed an improved handle and the ability to consistently knock down jumpers. Top 30 Game Selection.

2021 St. Mark's 6'3 Wing Corvin Oprea

Corvin made shots the entire camp. He has always been known as a dead-eye catch a shoot guy from three and he backed that up. He mixed in a few mid-range jumpers as well. Top 60 Game Selection.

2021 Plano West 6'4 G Chase Ross

Chase is a freak athlete at the wing position. He had several finishes above the rim and showed he can knock down three point shots with regularity. If he can tighten up his handle and continue to make shots Chase will be on the radar of several HM programs over the next 18 months. Top 30 Game Selection.

2020 Grand Prairie HS 6'7 Wing Donald Gholdstone

Donald showed the full package at The Next Wave. He made shots, scored around the rim, rebounded and made plays for others. He is a shot maker at the next level with good size. Top 30 Game Selection.

2022 FWC 6'2 G Alex Bossinakis

Alex was one of the youngest guys at the camp this year and you couldn't tell. He played well beyond his years with composure and production. He did a good job of facilitating and scoring. Top 60 Game Selection.

2021 Arlington Martin 6'2 G Jalen Guinn

Jalen just knows how to put the ball in the basket. It's just what he does and that's what he did at the camp. He finished well over length and made shots. Top 60 Game Selection.
