The GASO did a phenomenal job of scheduling and giving us some really good opening matchups as far as players and teams go. Here are a few of the players who played really well this weekend.
2020 6'4 Lake Highlands G Preston Lawrence
Preston was terrific this weekend with his Lake Highlands team. He scored efficiently, rebounded and did a good job leading his team. I expect Preston to have a huge HS season this year. Had a game high of 34 points this weekend. Preston's overall game is improving rapidly.
2020 6'4 Carter HS G Jalen Williams
Jalen has to be one of the most underrated prospects in the state at this point. He is a long, lanky wing that plays with athleticism and can really stroke jumpers out to the three point line. He put on a show for Carter this weekend.
2021 6'4 Waxahachie G CJ Noland
CJ Noland is flat out PRODUCTIVE. He is one of the best 2021 players in the state. He scored, rebounded, defended and showed he can get where he wants off of the bounce.
2021 6'4 Waxahachie G Jalen Lake
Jalen Lake is a sniper. He showed that time in and time out this weekend. He showed the ability to score off of the dribble. He is a great shooter but what sticks out is his basketball IQ.
2020 5'10 Duncanville HS G JB Hill
JB was in attack mode every game, all game at the GASO. He puts pressure on the defense with his ability to get into the paint. He is a pesky defender as well.
2020 6'4 Denton Guyer HS G Tyler McGhie
Tyler knocked down three's at a high rate this weekend. I watched him make 5 in a game. He is one of the top available shooters in the 2020 class in Texas.
2020 6'5 Denton Guyer HS F Amaechi Chukwu
Amaechi is a workhorse! He's really worked on his body and it shows in his play. He scores well on post ups and can really rebound. Plays with a high motor that makes him effective against bigger opponents.
2022 5'10 Duncanville HS G CJ Ford
CJ is as steady as they come for the lead guard spot at Duncanville. He guards, makes open jumpers, and facilitates. He is looking like the PG of the present and the future for the Panthers.
2023 6'3 Flower Mound G Quentin Wright
Quentin got thrown into the action with his JV team this weekend and more than held his own. He is long wing type who played PG for his team this weekend. He has all the tools to be a MM-HM type guard in the next few years. Solid handle, can score and he's athletic.
2022 6'2 Kimball HS G Arterrio Morris
Morris is a special prospect. He gets wherever he wants when he wants. Big time athlete and special vision. He has long arms and can really play. He was the unquestioned floor leader for Kimball this past weekend. The Knights will go as far as he takes them.
2023 6'5 OD Wyatt HS F Darkaun King
Darkuan looks like a very promising big man. He moves well, can score and he's tough. Should be one of the top players in a loaded 2023 class in the Metroplex.
2020 6'4 Byron Nelson wing Austin Garner
The recent Army commit looked good this weekend. He scored at will, rebounded and knocked down jumpers at a high rate. Austin was one of the best kept secrets in the city and his consistent play and scoring ability made him a priority for Army.
2023 6'0 Byron Nelson G Finley Bizjack
Finley showed the ability to make shot from three and he finished well around the basket. Had a nice stretch against Lake Highlands scoring the basketball.
2022 6'0 Frisco Memorial G Isaiah Foster
Isaiah looks to be healthy for the first time since the summer. He got where he wanted off the bounce and showed he can score and set up his teammates for easy baskets.
2020 6'4 Frisco Memorial F Jake Dukes
Dukes is an undersized post player that really understands how to use his girth to create space under the basket and rebound. He finished dump offs and worked to get offensive rebounds in the paint. Will be a key piece for Memorial this year.
2020 6'7 Frisco Liberty HS F Micaiah Abii
Micaiah is a mismatch nightmare. You put a big on him and he's too mobile for them, you put a wing on him and he's just too strong for them. He did what he wanted to inside and outside for his team. The Liberty commit should be a double-double guy this year.
2020 6'8 Garland Lakeview Centennial HS F Donte Houston
Donte is a monster. He runs well, finishes above the rim, and has really good hands. Donte is one of the top rebounders in the country in the 2020 class. He looks primed to have a big senior season.
2020 6'2 iSchool National HS G Julian Larry
Julian looked very good in both games on Saturday. He made shots, facilitated as always and competed. He was more assertive looking for scoring opportunities and shot a high percentage. Big time lead guard right here.
2022 6'1 iSchool National HS G Cruz Davis
The young lefty Cruz Davis had himself quite a ball game against Lancaster. He knocked down shots, handled the ball under pressure and played good defense. He is improving and growing at a rapid rate.
2020 6'7 iSchool National HS wing Quevian Adger
Adger is a scorer of the basketball. He scored from all three levels and played excellent defense. He continues to evolve as a prospect and he's really starting to round out his game.
2021 6'7 Desoto HS F Chris'don Morgan
Morgan continues to improve as a prospect. He understands how to seal his man in the post and get position. He rebounds and runs the floor well. He is a player coaches should be checking on in the 2021 class.
2020 5'11 Keller Timber Creek HS G Jordyn Vicente
Jordyn can score. He did it multiple ways at the GASO. He has a strong build and can really get to the basket. Had a buzzer beating basket to win a game as well.
2020 6'1 Lancaster HS G Marco Foster
Marco may have had the best display of shooting all weekend in a game against iSchool National. He made three's off the catch and the bounce and really got into a groove early. He is one of the top shooters in the state when he's rolling. I've seen him make 5 plus three's in a game multiple times over the last few years.
2020 6'0 Lancaster HS G Wade Taylor IV
Wade is the quickest guard end to end we have in the city. He is relentless using his speed attacking and that opens up opportunities for him to take and make deep triples. He is phenomenal defensively creating turnovers for easy scoring chances.
2020 6'3 Lancaster HS G Mike Miles
Mike looked the part of one of the top uncommitted guards in the 2020 class this weekend. He scored, created and showed he's an above average athlete. He did a really good job defensively as well.
2020 6'1 LD Bell HS G Jaden Wells
Jaden is a knockdown shooter but he's proving he can be a legit combo guard as well. His ability to keep defenders honest with his dead eye shooting opens the floor for him to make plays for his teammates. He received an offer from UCO this weekend due to his solid play.
2022 6'4 Lewisville HS G Keyonte George
Keyonte is a born scorer of the basketball. He doesn't waste any movement or energy getting to his spots. He's efficient. The mark of great scorer is the ability to get to the free throw line and he shot at least 10 in the game I watched him. He looks to have grown an inch or two since the summer. ELITE prospect.
2021 5'11 Lewisville HS G Kylin Green
Kylin did everything in his team's win against Duncanville. He rebounded, scored tough buckets and made winning plays. He's a small guard with a strong body who isn't afraid to throw his body around for the good of the team.
2021 6'4 Mansfield G Drew Crippen
Drew was good this weekend being used as the primary ball handler and scoring threat for Mansfield HS. He is a versatile player with good size who can play either guard spot at the HS level.
2021 6'7 Mansfield F Andrew Iyamah
Andrew has really worked on his body since the summer and is as lean and sculpted as I've seen him since he's been in HS. He plays tough around the rim and can score on the low block. Solid player.
2020 6'2 Mansfield Timberview G Eyan Gooden
Eyan played well this weekend. He always competes hard and does what it takes to win games. I was impressed with his ball handling under pressure and ability to break down the defense and get in the paint.
2022 6'6 Mckinney F Alex Ananmekwe
Alex has the body and athleticism of a HM basketball player today. He rebounds well, blocks shots and plays with toughness. He's still learning how to play the game but his physical attributes allow him to contribute on the defensive end.
2020 6'2 Mesquite Horn G Devon Hancock
Devon had it rolling this past weekend at the GASO. He drilled jumpers, made plays and showed off his athleticism. He continues to get better as a prospect.
2020 6'6 Mesquite Horn F Preston Aymond
Preston has worked on his body and he's moving well. He is good 17 feet and in because of his versatility, especially from the high post.
2021 5'11 Prosper HS G Grant Shaw
Grant ran the show for Prosper. He plays with a high IQ and he is deceptively quick. He's a solid floor general for a Prosper team that has some talent.
2022 6'4 Richardson HS G Cason Wallace
Cason Wallace makes up 1 half of one of the best back courts in the state. He sliced and diced his way to the rim for thunderous dunks and lobs to his backcourt mate Rylan Griffen. Cason is a PG who is always looking to make the correct play, he is also one of the best defenders in the city. Cason is one of the top prospects in the country in the 2022 class.
2022 6'5 Richardson HS G Rylan Griffen
Rylan looks closer to 6'6 than he does 6'5 and his game is growing at a rapid rate. He knocked down three's, created for himself and played above the rim the entire weekend. He is clearly one of the top prospects in the country in his class.
2020 6'7 South Grand Prairie HS F Christian Turner
Christian did a good job of mixing his game up last weekend. His ability to spread the floor with his shooting is always noticed but he did a good job of leading his young team vocally and battling down low for rebounds and scoring chances.
2021 6'7 The Colony HS F Tay Mosher
Tay is beginning to come into his own as a player. He can really shoot the three ball and his added strength allows him to bang in the paint and battle for rebounds. He is a versatile offensive threat.
2020 5'11 Waxahachie HS G BJ Francis
BJ is a warrior and every time he takes the floor he's one of the toughest players there. He does WHATEVER it takes to help his team win games. He is a confident player who isn't afraid of the big moment. He knocked down shots, created easy opportunities for his teammates and played excellent defense.
2020 6'4 Duncanville HS G Damon Nicholas Jr.
Damon stepped up in a huge way in the absence of 2020 6'7 wing Micah Peavy this weekend. He really looked to score as his team needed him to put points on the board. He was aggressive yet efficient with his scoring and he rebounded and played excellent defense all weekend long.
