The Stars Shined Bright The First Night of The Cowtown Tip-Off

By Kellen C. Buffington, 11/15/19, 9:15PM CST

On opening night of the Cowtown Tip-Off the stars shined bright and a few freshman looked very good in their high school debut. Let's begin with the stars.

Nobody shined brighter then Duncanville 2020 Texas Tech signee 6'7 wing Micah Peavy on opening night. The McDonald All-American game hopeful had 27 points and 11 rebounds. The way he got the 27 points was a little different to what we're accustomed to seeing though. Peavy knocked down several mid range jumpers and a couple of three's showing off his improved shooting.

2021 6'4 wing Damon Nicholas Jr. was good tonight for Duncanville as well. He sliced his way to the rim for scores, rebounded and knocked down a few jumpers.

Lewisville struggled mightily in every facet of the game tonight. 2022 6'4 guard Keyonte George was solid tonight. He got to the line, finished around the basket and knocked down three's en route to 28 points.

iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy got a nice win over OD Wyatt tonight in a very balanced effort. 2020 Indiana St. 6'2 PG Julian Larry was the maestro with 13 assists and only 2 turnovers, 2020 6'7 wing Quevian Adger finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks, 2020 6'10 F Austin Lewis finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds as well. OD Wyatt was led by Jacobi Lewis who finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.

Regardless of how talented freshmen are their first few high school games can be tough. I was impressed with iSchool 2023 6'8 F Matt Reed who finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds in a win. 2023 6'5 F Darkuan King had some nice moments for OD Wyatt, Duncanville 2023's Ronald Holland Jr. and Cameron Barnes both had some good stretches in the big win for Duncanville tonight as well. These four freshmen will all be prospects to track the next four years.
