Day Two of The Cow-Town Tip Off

By Kellen C. Buffington, 11/16/19, 1:00PM CST

Desoto vs. Waco Midway

These two teams were locked in a see-saw battle the entire fourth quarter. The post matchup of Desoto 2021 Arkansas commit 6'7 F Duncan Powell and Waco Midway 2020 UIW commit GodsGift Ezedinma didn't disappoint. Powell finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds in the 65-62 win. Ezedinma finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both players had stretches where they absolutely carried their teams.

Two guys who played huge roles in this one were Desoto 2020 6'5 forward Tavion Carroll and Waco Midway 2020 5'8 guard Anthony Scott. Carroll finished with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Scott finished with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Waxahachie vs. Justin Northwest

This one was a blow out from the tip. I really thought Waxahachie 2020 5'10 unsigned senior guard BJ Francis helped himself in this one. Fresh off of an offer from SAGU the tough point guard showed off a nice stroke from three and had a really nice floor game today. He finished with 27 points and 5 rebounds in the blowout.

Mansfield Timberview vs. Denton Guyer

This one ended up being an unexpected route by Denton Guyer. Guyer received a balanced effort led by 2020 6'5 unsigned senior guard Tyler McGhie with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Butler commit JaKobe Coles with 16 points and 14 rebounds. 2020 6'2 G Eyan Gooden had a nice performance in the loss for Timberview finishing with 19 points and 5 made three's.

St. Mark's vs. Allen

This game pitted two of the top programs in the city against each other as well as two of the top 2021 prospects in the country. Allen got the win closing the game late. While Manny Obaseki (10 points 10 rebounds and 4 assists) and Harrison Ingram(10 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists) didn't have their best games they both showed flashes as to why they are so highly regarded. Ingram flexed his muscle getting to the free throw line and rebounding and Obaseki made plays for himself and others off the bounce.

The "other guys," (I mean that sarcastically) were the ones who really stole the show. Allen's La Tech signee Thailand Elder (17 points and 7 rebounds) was phenomenal the entire game along with Northern Colorado signee Bryce Kennedy and 2021 6'1 G Mason Gibson (12 points and 10 rebounds). St. Mark's received  big contributions from 2022's Corvin Oprea (13 points) and Colin Smith (10 points and 6 rebounds)  and Penn signee Andrew Laczkowski (13 points and 10 rebounds).

Faith Family vs. Lewisville

Lewisville's experience and the scoring of 2022 6'4 G Keyonte George proved to be too much for the young Faith Family squad in this one.  George finished with 32 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the 66-55 win. 2020 Lewisville 6'4 G KJ Pruitt played well tonight for Lewisville finishing with 11 points. 2022 6'5 F Trae Clayton was big for Faith Family finishing with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in defeat.

Lancaster vs. Duncanville

The #1 ranked 6A team (Duncanville) squared off with the #1 ranked 5A team Lancaster in a tight one. The Lancaster trio of 2021 6'0 Lancaster G Wade Taylor IV, 2020 6'2 G Marco Foster and 2020 6'3 G Mike Miles all  got off to a hot start . Miles tried to keep Lancaster in it late finishing with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

2020 6'5 F Robert Banks and 2021 6'1 G Juan Reyna were good from start to finish. Banks playing with toughness and making shots and Juan Reyna was dialed in from deep connecting on 9 three's and finishing with 31 points. These two carried Duncanville to the win making big play after big play down the stretch. Banks finished 15 points and 7 rebounds.
