Guard play Reigns Supreme at The Next Wave Middle School Edition

This past weekend at The Next Wave the guard position was LOADED. We hosted several of the top guards in the city in the classes of 2024-2027. While it is still early in their development these are the ones who were productive and showed potential.

2024 6'1 G Landon Brown: Landon plays with a smoothness that makes you wonder if he's really playing as hard as he can. The game comes so easy to him at this point. I believe he's competing it just looks easy at this stage. There isn't much he can't get done on the floor. He has a tight handle, great vision, can make shots and plays under control. The long and wiry guard has a chance to be one of the better players in this region and possibly the country at some point. Younger brother of Northern Iowa stud guard Isaiah Brown. 2024 6'0 G Deontrell Barrett: Deontrell was a man amongst boys for stretches in the camp. He punished defenders attacking the rim, knocked down three's and played excellent on ball defense. Barrett has been one of the top guards in that class nationally and shows no signs of slowing down. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 6'0 G Isayah Pankey: Isayah plays with the feel and IQ of a HS senior already. He changes speeds, can pass with either hand and knocked down several three's in the camp. He operates like a surgeon in pick and roll and showed the ability to make every read out of ball screens. Excellent long term potential on this one. Definitely one to track. 2024 6'1 G Marlon Linton Jr.: Marlon is a powerfully built guard that can really score the basketball. The lefty knocked down deep three's, got to the rim and finished and showed the ability to facilitate some as well. Linton has all the tools to be defensive stopper. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 6'4 G Sasha "Dink" Pate:  Dink is a long and lanky combo guard with every tool at his disposal. He's athletic, can pass, shoots the three ball and plays the right way. Dink is one of the better long-term prospects I witnessed at the camp. He has a chance to be one of the top players in the country over the next few years. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 5'4 G Jadyn Hollis: Jadyn was tough as nails picking up full court and facilitating for his teammates. He is a rock solid guard that is all about competition and winning. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection

2024 5'0 G Jaylen Washington: Jaylen might have been the top assist man in the camp. He gets in the lane and looks to find open teammates for easy baskets. He locks up defensively and can score it. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2025 5'8 G Tashiem Gary: Tashiem literally has the ball on a string. He is excellent creating for himself and others off the dribble. Very unselfish and showed the ability to consistently knock down the three ball. He was arguably the top seventh grader in the event. Top 30 Game All-Star Game Selection.

2025 5'8 G Jaylen Lawal: Jaylen competed hard the entire camp. He pushed the ball in transition, knocked down mid range jumpers and was a pest defensively. He's quick, strong and competitive. I saw him in October and his game has grown tremendously since then. One of the top seventh graders in the camp. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2024 5'10 G Jayden Hardy: Jayden showed the ability to score the basketball in multiple ways. He competed hard, played defense and rebounded. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 5'10 G Landon Tucker: Landon plays the game the right way. He does a lot of things well. He scored, made the extra pass and played with  grit and toughness. He was a real bright spot at the event and turned heads with his play. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2024 5'10 G Amaru Martin: Amaru is a strong built lead guard that can get into the lane at will. He was a bulldog and one of the top guards in the camp. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 5'8 G Kamoni Sieber: Kamoni was consistently good. He played well in every game. He did all the little things that help you win games. He's an explosive guard that competes every possession. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection. 

2024 6'0 G Nathan Macadory: Nate knows how to play basketball. He can pass, score and he's a really good ball handler. He did an excellent job playing with pace and making the correct basketball play. High IQ player with upside. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 5'10 G Terry Duncan Jr.: Duncan was electric attacking the basket and finishing around the rim. He knocked down three's, played excellent defensively and was consistent. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 6'0 G Markel Porter:  Porter showed off an explosive first step and used his toughness and athleticism to blow past defenders and finish at the rim. He is going to steadily rise in this class. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 6'1 Kory Muse: Muse was very good attacking the basket in the open floor and showed the ability to finish at the rim in the half court. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2024 5'9 G Rakai Crawford: Rakai was really good handling the ball and making plays for himself and others. He's a tough competitor that wants to win every possession. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2024 5'9 G Lawyer Jones: Lawyer is a powerful guard that can really get downhill and finish through contact. He is quick and strong attacking the basket. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 5'11 Mason Ferguson: Mason did everything at the camp. He is a long athlete that is at his best when attacking the basket. He tight roped the baseline for scores and just stayed in attack mode on both sides of the basketball. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2024 5'6 G Julian Kinchen: Julian is a young lead guard that can really play. He advanced the ball with the pass in transition, made plays for himself and others and shot the ball well. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2027 5'3 G Beckham Black: Beckham was the youngest player in the camp, you wouldn't have known that watching him play. He's tough, skilled and an ELITE competitor. We keep saying it's early but I have zero doubt in my mind Beckham will be one of the top players in the country in his class. Top 60 All-Star Game Selection.

2026 5'5 G Kerric Bradford: Bradford is one tough kid. The dynamic guard gets to the basket whenever he wants and already understands how to finish against length. He is definitely one to track moving forward. Top 60 All-Star Game Selection.

2025 5'5 G Chris Wells: Chris is an attacking guard that can really make plays for himself and others. The young guard plays with a high IQ and makes winning plays. Top 60 All-Star Game Selection.

2026 5'0 G Da'Montrell Bussey: Bussey is another guard that played with toughness and showed off excellent playmaking ability. Top 60 Game All-Star Game Selection.

2024 5'11 G Bryson McGlothin: Bryson is a long, lanky wing that looks to find open teammates and showed the ability to knock down shots. Top 60 All-Star Game Selection. 

2025 5'0 G Jett McCasland: Jett is a constant threat to knock down three's from all over the floor. He plays hard, plays smart and really enjoys the game. Top 60 Game All-Star Game Selection.

2024 5'9 G Niko Lucero: Niko is a cerebral guard that knows how to play. He doesn't force anything and takes advantages of his opportunities. He handled the ball well and made shots. Top 60 Game All-Star Selection.

2026 5'8 G Cash Chism: Cash was one of the top 6th grade guards at the camp. He understands the game at an early age and knows how to play. There isn't much he can't do as a player right now. It's early but he looks like he's going to be headed towards the top of that class. Younger brother of arguably the top 2023 PG in Texas Payton Chism.

2025 5'5 G Desmond Jones: Desmond was a matchup problem at the camp. He got to his spots, finished at the rim, made three's and dropped off some nice passes in traffic. One of the top 7th graders in the camp. Top 60 Game All-Star Selection.

2026 5'4 G Keandre Lockett: Keandre was one of the tougher players at the camp. Definitely one of the top sixth grade players there. He gets into the lane at will and knocked down shots. Good vision that made some excellent passes once he got in the paint. 

2026 5'2 G Jaibryan Pirtle: Pirtle is another one of Da Fam's tough group of sixth grade guards that attended the camp. He was fearless attacking the defense and understands at an early age how to play the game. Top 60 All-Star Game Selection
