The Wire

By Kellen C. Buffington, 04/28/20, 3:00PM CDT

The Wire in Dallas, TX was hot this week.

We will discuss several topics that have taken place in the city over the last week like potential transfers, who's recruitment has taken off and our prediction for 2020 Joey Madimba.

2022 Rylan Griffen's recruitment has taken off

Richardson 6'5 G Rylan Griffen is coming off a phenomenal sophomore season. The pandemic has had NO effect on his recruitment. Just recently he's picked up offers from Kansas St., Oklahoma St. and Kansas. Griffen is one of the top players in the country in the 2022 class and his recruitment is reflecting that right now. I expect his recruitment to be national over the next few years as he will be highly sought after.

2021 Prospects picking up offers in spite of the pandemic

Many 2021 prospects are in a holding pattern from a recruitment standpoint due to COVID-19 restricting college coaches access to prospects. A select few prospects have still been able to secure offers during these unprecedented times.

The Texas Impact 2021 quartet of Imo Essien (Montana State) , Zhuric Phelps (UTRGV and Georgia Southern) , Tay Mosher (UNCW) and Ian Motta (UNCW) all picked up offers this week. Jalen Lake picked up an offer from Texas Southern as well.

Southern Assault's 2021 prospects Wade Taylor IV (Tulsa) , Harrison Ingram (Florida St.) , Eli Stephens(UC Riverside)  and Chrisdon Morgan (Morgan St.) all picked up offers this week as well.

Nike Pro Skills 2021 CJ Noland has definitely seen his recruitment pick up. He's landed offers from Kansas St. (father played there), Georgia Southern, Houston and Tulsa.

A few 2024's announced their HS choice this week

2024 6'1 G Landon Brown will be attending iSchool of Lewisville.

2024 6'0 G Deontrell Barrett will be attending Lancaster.

The masses are anxiously waiting to see where the #1 2024 prospect in Texas Doryan Onwuchekwa will end up. We've heard Lincoln, Lancaster and a few others.

2024 Marlon Linton Jr. who will be attending Crandall reported an offer from Coastal Carolina last week.

The High School Transfer Portal is jumping right now

There have been rumblings of some big time prospects transferring to different schools.

There has been mention of a few of  2022 prospects on the move in the Metroplex. I would look for a few private schools and public schools to get a lot better over the coming months with a few new additions. Four of them are nationally ranked in the 2022 class.

There is a high level 2021 prospect that may be on the move to an up and coming private school along with a couple of other 2021's who will make a few traditional powers really good again next year.

2020 Joey Madimba is nearing a decision

Mansfield Timberview wing Joey Madimba has set a decision date for  May 1, 2020. He has cut his list to UNT, Southern Illinois, Hofstra, Tarleton and UAB. My prediction is Tarleton.
