2022's Who Were An April Away from The Blowup!

By Kellen C. Buffington, 05/01/20, 9:15AM CDT

The 2022 class in Texas has been talked about in basketball circles for years now. This was the summer when guys were going to be able to create some separation. We will talk about a few players who were set to make themselves a household name after April.

2022 Coppell 6'6 G Ryan Agarwal

Ryan's recruitment is still in good shape as his name is buzzing around town with colleges. Had we been able to have the first live period in April I'm almost positive he would be sitting on a few offers. Ryan gets a lot of love for his ability to make shots as he should but he is a complete player who with added strength will have a chance to make some money off of this game one day. He's heard from Creighton, Stanford, Virginia Tech and UCSB among others.

2022 iSchool of Lewisville 6'3 G Cruz Davis

Cruz isn't a sleeper by any means as he is nationally ranked and holds an offer from SMU. The smooth lefty point guard was ready to cement himself as one of the top point guard prospects in the country this year. Cruz continues to grow and get stronger, couple that with his ability to create for himself and others and you have a prospect that was set to blow the roof off of his recruitment. Cruz has heard from OU, Creighton and Houston among others.

2022 LD Bell 6'2 G Nazir Brown

Naz is one of the best off the dribble scorers in the state for his class. He understands how to use change of pace, his body and a tight handle for scoring opportunities. He is almost impossible to keep out of the paint. Naz averaged over 20 points per game this year and was set for a HUGE spring live period.

2022 Duncanville HS 6'0 G CJ Ford

CJ is arguably the best on ball defender in his class. The tough and gritty sophomore helped lead his team to state and showed the ability to run a team and score when needed. He's as solid as they come at the point guard position and has a lot of value for some MM programs.

2022 Richland HS 6'3 Wing Jourdyn Grandberry

Jourdyn just picked up an offer from DePaul a week ago. He showed up to my The Next Wave camp as an unknown and left as a Top 30 Game All-Star. He is a high flying wing that can make the three. Long arms and quickness make him a solid perimeter defender as well. Reminds me of Chris Mullins.

2022 Faith Family 6'4 G TJ Caldwell

Caldwell is so intriguing. He is a freak athlete with long arms, toughness and the ability to stroke the three ball routinely. I feel like he's a bit under the radar even though he has offers from Oklahoma St. and Oklahoma. He's just scratching the surface of his potential as a prospect. He is somebody I feel like will be among the best in this class when the smoke clears.
