We continue our coverage of The Dallas Showtyme Classic in this article covering 2022's.
2022 Southern Assault 6'8 F Colin Smith: Colin was phenomenal this weekend scoring and on the glass. He shot the ball well from three off the bounce and the catch, he locked up defensively and showed an improved handle. Colin was my Co-MVP of the weekend.
2022 6'6 3d Academy G Anthony Black: The Co-MVP of the weekend Black might have raised his profile as a HM prospect more than anybody else that played this weekend. The versatility he displayed leading his team to a 3-0 record was excellent. He made plays for himself and others, shot the three ball at a high clip, played above the rim and hit the glass. There is NOTHING Anthony can't do on a basketball court. I've long said this kid was a HM basketball player and let's just say I feel good with my stance on him as a prospect after this weekend.
2022 Southern Assault 6'7 F KyeRon Lindsay: Lindsay has really improved over the last year. His body is starting to fill out and he's using his plus wingspan to really hit the glass. The lefty four man showed nice touch around the rim and showed the ability to step out and hit elbow jumpers. Definitely one for MM programs to track.
2022 3d Academy 6'6 G Ryan Argarwal: Ryan Argarwal was the best shooter in the gym this weekend. His size, quick release and accuracy scream high level shooter. The underrated piece of his game is the IQ and his ability to pass. He needs to get stronger and he will, but if you're looking for a sniper to shoot over 40% from three for four years look no further.
2022 FOE 6'4 Wing Jalen Netlles: Jalen played 17's and 16's this weekend and looked good at both levels. The long, wiry wing is a tough slasher that can really finish above the rim. He runs well filling the lanes and showed the ability to knock down the midrange jumper. Active defender that rebounds well.
2022 Showtyme 6'6 F Jason Thirdkill: Thirdkill looked good this weekend. He made shots, rebounded and finished well around the rim. The combo forward used his size and skillset to create mismatches during the event. He was a good find for me, he looks the part of a MM prospect in time.
2022 3d Academy 6'1 G Nazir Brown: Naz's control of his teams offense was masterful this weekend. He played under control, scored whenever he wanted and facilitated at a high level. He was huge in crunch time in the win over Southern Assault. He is still a high level scorer but he showed he can definitely play point guard and set the table for his teammates.
2022 PB Nation 6'1 G Khendall Weaver: Weaver is the younger brother of one of the top women's basketball players in the country Chennady Carter. He definitely made a name for himself this weekend. The uber-athletic Weaver got to the basket easy and knocked down midrange jumpers with regularity. He is just starting to scratch the surface of his potential. MM's need to take a peek in on him.
2022 Urban DFW 6'1 G Jarred Washington: Jarred is one of the most underrated 2022 players in Dallas. The strong guard is a big time athlete with a tight handle and a nice looking stroke out to the three point line. He did a good job getting downhill and scoring from all three levels. He looked excellent this weekend.
2022 Southern Assault 6'7 F Tate Laczkowski: Tate knocked down the three ball with regularity this weekend. When his feet are set it's automatic. He's a little on the small side and needs to add some weight but his ability to routinely knock down triples this weekend allowed him to stand out.
2022 Showtyme 6'6 F Kyron Henderson: The motor on this kid NEVER stops. He hit the glass hard and dunked everything around the rim ALL weekend long. The dual sport star more than held his own in the paint for his 16U team this weekend.
2022 Southern Assault 6'0 G CJ Ford: CJ played tough this weekend leading his team from the PG position. He is an excellent defender that sets the table for his teammates.
2022 SW Elite 6'2 G Ja'Shire Sheriff: The east coast PG plays with flash and substance. He made plays in big moments, scored and set up his teammates for easy looks. Sheriff is a competitor who plays hard on both ends of the ball. Might be the newest addition to a loaded 2022 class in DFW.
2022 Texas Playmakerz 6'3 G Mason Jones: Jones is definitely growing, looked like he's grown three inches since I last saw him in December. He shot the ball well for his team this weekend and helped them to a 3-0 record. Picked up his first offer from UTA as well.
2022 Southern Assault 6'4 Wing Khaden Bennett: Bennett is a glue guy, a really good one. He knocks down three's, defends and rebounds well. Plays just like a coach's son with his High IQ and is productive every time he's on the floor.
