The Next Wave Recap Part 1

The Next Wave played host to some of the top prospects in the 2021-2024 class in Texas and beyond last weekend. We talk about some of the standouts in Part 1 of our recap.

2021 6'0 G Wade Taylor IV : Wade was his typical self with a dominant performance at the camp. He is a just a PLAYER..he plays hard and is in attack mode regardless of the setting. He knocked down three's, got to the rim at will and facilitated for his teammates. The Lancaster senior is expected to release his Final five schools tomorrow. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'3 G CJ Noland: CJ is just a MONSTER. He guards, attacks the basket and has really improved his shooting. He checks a lot of boxes and will be a productive player from day one for whatever school he chooses. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'4 F Montez Young Jr.: ENERGY is the best word used to describe Young's game. He plays hard all game long and does whatever his team needs to win games. He is a big time athlete with a big time motor that is all about winning. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'8 F Chrisdon Morgan: Morgan has improved as much as anybody in the 2021 class. The big man has taken tremendous strides offensively scoring around the basket and knocking down the midrange jumper. What I love about him most is how he communicates defensively. Top 30 Game All-Star Selection.

2021 6'5 G Jon Jon Massie: Massie has really grown into his body over the last 18 months. He's a legit 6'5 and has gotten stronger and more explosive. He blew past defenders and finished above the rim in traffic. He showed the ability to make plays for his teammates as well. Good vision and an unselfish palyer.

2021 6'1 G Juan Reyna: Juan Reyna might be the best shooter in the 2021 class in Texas. What's underrated about him is his toughness. He competes every play. He routinely knocked down shots from all over the floor and handled the ball well.

2021 6'8 F Mekhi Collins: Mekhi is starting to figure this whole basketball thing out. The uber-athletic forward dunks everything around the rim does an excellent job rebounding in and out of his area. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection. 

2021 6'8 F Shaun Walker: Walker dominated on the low block during the camp. He does an excellent job of burying his defender below the basket and uses his soft touch around the rim. He scores consistently over his right shoulder and has good hands. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'5 F Marcell McCreary: Marcell proved to be a mismatch nightmare for opponents at the camp. He scored inside and outside and used his IQ and size to be productive. He takes bigger guys off the bounce and punishes smaller defenders with his strength and toughness. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'5 Wing Noah McDavid: Noah is a big time slasher with elite athleticism in the open floor. He has improved his shooting and his range and has all the tools to be a big time defender with some real versatility n the defensive side of the basketball. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'5 G Elijah Hughey: Hughey continued his high scoring summer at the camp. He scored from all three levels and showed the ability to be a playmaker as well. Underrated as a passer. Top 30 All-Star Game selection.

2021 6'5 F Griffin Datcher IV: Griffin was a very consistent performer at the camp. He scored, rebounded and played the right way all day. He has really improved his handle and his shot making since the last time I've seen him. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'3 G Demonyae Davis: Davis was did an excellent job as a playmaker and scorer. The long, lanky floor general showed off his burst, tight handle and court vision. He's a big time athlete at the point guard position. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'8 F Addarin Scott: Scott oozes with potential because of his size, athleticism, toughness and motor. He ran the floor, rebounded, blocked shots and finished everything around the rim. Scott gets better every time I see him. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'2 G Kaden Morgan: Morgan knows how to play basketball. He can score, he can pass, he's just a PLAYER. He was a consistent offensive force the entire camp and he's had a phenomenal summer to date. He is very efficient and plays with a high basketball IQ. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'4 G Zhuric Phelps: Zhuric is a big guard with a tight handle and some real pop. He uses his size and handle to get in the paint and once there he has the ability to explode over defenders with his athleticism. He is a bulldog defensively who really competes. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'3 G Marcus Rigsby Jr. Rigsby is a real threat offensively anytime he has the ball. His ability to shoot the three off the bounce make him tough to guard in isolation situations. He can get to the rim and he's a plus athlete. Rigsby's best basketball is definitely ahead of him. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'7 wing Terrance Arceneaux: Terrance's confidence and game have really grown since this time last year. He is routinely knocking down deep triples, getting to the rim off the bounce and using his elite athleticism on both sides of the ball. Terrance is flat out one of the top prospects in Texas in a loaded 2022 class in Texas. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'3 G Amaree Abraham: Amaree was one of the best guards in the entire camp. His combination of size, IQ and ability to score make him a threat to score or make a play anytime he has the ball in his hands. Amaree is also a 4.0 student. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'6 G Anthony Black: Black continued his dominant summer with his play at the camp. The jumbo playmaker with elite athleticism just has it all clicking for him right now. He's been more assertive this year staying in attack mode while still playing with a high IQ. Special prospect. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'0 G Braylon Crosby: Crosby is tough on both sides of the ball. He can really get to the basket off the bounce and he shot the ball well. Defensively he takes his assignment personal and works hard to terrorize opponents. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'5 F Alex Anamekwe: Anamekwe is a special prospect. Motor, toughness, athleticism and skillset, he checks all the boxes. He plays hard but not wild, there is a smoothness and fluidity to his game that makes him stand out. He made three's, finished above the rim, rebounded and passed the ball very well. He is special defensively where he can legit guard every perimeter position at the next level. REAL SLEEPER in the 2022 class in the state. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'7 F Devyn Franklin: Franklin played hard, showed his athleticism and shot the ball out to the three point line at the camp. He is a little raw but he has All of the tools to be in the top half of the 2022 class in Texas. Franklin is definitely a  prospect to track moving forward. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'7 wing Ryan Agarwal: Ryan is flat out the best shooter in the country in the 2022 class. He routinely knocked down the three ball from all over the floor off of the catch and the bounce. His athleticism is progressing and he's a high level passer. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'5 F Chase Kennedy: Chase just dominates the glass. He has excellent instincts defensively and on the glass. He uses his strong body to just remove opponents in the paint. Physical specimen that plays hard and does whatever it takes to help his team win games. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'6 F Brandon Walker: Brandon's offensive versatility make him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. He is a phenomenal rebounder and his ability to start the break off of a rebound helps get his team easy transition opportunities. Waker is only beginning to scratch the surface of his potential. 2022 6'10 C Cole Reid: Cole is a hardworking big man who doesn't mind doing all of the grunt work in the paint. He rebounds well and has soft touch around the rim. His toughness and size make him an imposing figure for guys thinking about attacking the rim. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 6'6 F Zane Hicke: Zane has always been a prospect with good size that plays hard. He's really added to his skill package. He is leading the break, knocking down three's and still playing with that motor and toughness. Zane is very versatile defensively. Big time glue guy for a winning team. 2022 6'1 G Dallas Hobbs: Dallas was a maestro at the lead guard spot in the camp. He really balanced his playmaking and scoring. He's starting to grow physically and mentally in his game. Tough as nails too. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.

2022 5'11 G Austin Benigni: Austin is like a shot of adrenaline on the floor. He plays hard all the time and is always looking to put pressure on the defense. He is relentless attacking the basket and finishes around the rim well for a smaller guard. He is an ELITE competitor. Top 30 All-Star Game Selection.
